Lochgelly is a former mining town surrounded by farmland and woodland close to Cowdenbeath in West Fife. Today the town has a population of around 6600, and is undergoing regeneration with major new investments in housing and industry, helped by excellent transport links by rail and by road to Edinburgh and Dundee. Lochgelly has real natural beauty at Lochore Country Meadows Park and Lochgelly Loch, and is famous for the Lochgelly Centre Theatre, the Lochgelly Tawse – belt of choice for generations of schoolteachers – and its junior football club, Lochgelly Albert. s1lochgelly.com has been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, publicise events and display photos and videos.
