Charette on its way as Lochgelly ready to go on global stage
1 Mar 2010Lochgelly will take a big step on to the international stage next week when it takes part in Scotland's Charrette series.
Top international designer Andres Duany and his team are coming to town on Monday, 8th March and Lochgelly is getting itself to take part in shaping its future development.
We'll see banners, posters, newsletters and postcards around the town, and the aim is to stress the importance of everyone - of every age getting involved with the Charrette process.
Pupils from St. Patrick's Primary School, and indeed all the local schools, will play their part in spreading the message to friends and family.
Public meetings are taking place in the Town Hall on the evenings of Monday 8th, Thursday 11th, and Saturday 13th March from 7pm to 9pm. And the design studios between Tuesday 9th, and Friday 12th March are open to all between 10am and 7pm.
Fife Council have set up a website dedicated to the Lochgelly Charrette which will provide a focal point for information, news and points of views. To find out all you need to know about the Charrette logon on to www.scotlandcharrettelochgelly.co.uk.
A two day workshop is also being held at Lochgelly West Primary School on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th March which will involve pupils from all five local schools. This workshop will give pupils the chance to contribute their ideas to the Charrette. The results will be exhibited at the Opening Presentation on Monday, 8th March in the Town Hall from 7pm.
