29/1/2010Funding boost for South Street housing project
A project to kick start a housing project on South Street, Lochgelly, is to receive £150,000 in new funding from Fife Council.
The project will result in 16 new homes being built on the site, which will include housing for a priority special needs project.
The Lochgelly project is one of seven across Fife to receive a funding boost thanks to income the council recieves on council tax on second homes.
Government guidelines on council tax on second homes changed in 2005, at which time the council agreed to reduce the council tax discount on long-term and empty homes from 50% to 10%.
