Pupils plan for the future at Lochgelly workshop
9 Mar 2010The school workshop involved mind mapping a sustainable town and designing models representing different Eco friendly buildings and facilities. The project allowed pupils to choose between different design elements that will be ecologically sound, healthy and which suits their needs.
An lot of thought and creativity went into the designs and this was evident from the variety on display. Using the children's ideas, Lochgelly will look forward to an Eco friendly arcade, a new town centre complete with large swimming pool, solar powered dustbins, an Eco farm and the Paddle 6000; a leisure cruiser which uses the energy expended by its customers.
The workshops included around 30 pupils from all five local schools, and their results were displayed in a presentation at Lochgelly West Primary School, and then at the Opening Presentation of the Charrette in the Town Hall.
Bailey Mclelland, a pupil at Lochgelly West Primary School, said: "I thought it was a fun experience. Our group worked well together and we tried to make a house as Eco friendly as it could be. All the other schools and groups had really clever ideas as well. It was a lot of fun."
